STK at Juneteenth

Juneteenth in Syracuse this year was a great success for all. The music, food, and booths were wonderful!  We had an amazing table that Maria Miller, Vera Parsons and Anthony Nocella tabled at. We had more than 200 people come up to the table to talk about Save the Kids and transforming the juvenile justice system. One topic that everyone agreed with was kids are different than their actions that they take. For those that do not know what Juneteenth is, it is a national celebration held in many cities across the country, when people in Texas, who were enslaved found out they were free and slavery in the U.S. was over! Save the Kids were also interviewed for the news about Juneteenth, click here to see the news story.

Outdoor Empowerment Training

Tuesday June 7, 2011 Anthony Nocella facilitated a Eight hour Mini Outdoor Empowerment Training for Facilitators workshop at Hillbrook Youth Detention Facility including Amound Jones, a youth mentor of Save the Kids. In the last portion of the workshop the new facilitators led two workshops with kids through a low-level ropes course that promotes group-building, team building, and environmental awareness.
